Family Addiction Counseling Program
Crossroads Centre Antigua recognizes that healing from alcohol and other drug dependencies happens best with the involvement of families. Families and concerned others play a significant role in the recovery process.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for the care and information you have shared with my son and myself. I feel I have gained new tools to better communicate my feelings and concerns regarding my son’s alcoholism/recovery with him and for my own self-care and recovery as a mother of an addict. Forever grateful to all at Crossroads.”

Family Addiction Counseling Program Overview
Our 5-day integrated family addiction counseling program allows family members to participate in the client’s recovery, and begin their own healing with family therapy.
Families learn the skills necessary to break destructive boundaries and communication patterns. Our integrated family program includes helpful educational materials, family conferences, didactic lectures, group discussion, list work, and individualized attention.
Families learn about relationships, addiction, and about changing unhealthy or painful dynamics so that the family unit can heal together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Family Addiction Counseling for?
A family member who has a loved one in active addiction or recovery OR Anyone who wants to learn more about the disease of addiction OR Anyone who wants to resolve relationship issues involving addiction or codependency.
What is the Family Addiction cycle like?
Loved ones of the chemically dependent person are involved in the addiction experience in much the same way as the addict / alcoholic. If we grew up in a family system where there was addiction, or other forms of dysfunction, we learned how to cope and survive at a very early age. Unknowingly, we continue to operate with these survival behaviors in present relationships until we come to realize how these responses may not be conducive to satisfying relationships. With this new understanding, we can begin to identify and make changes that can improve the quality of our life.
How will this treatment help?
The presence of addiction within the family system can lead to relationship and communication breakdowns that accelerate the progression of the disease. That’s why loved ones should play a significant role in both the treatment and recovery processes.
How long is the family addiction counseling program?
This 5-day program combines individual and family therapy sessions with educational presentations and group discussions.
